SMILO Third Annual Meeting
Small Islands Organisation (SMILO) has organised its third Annual Meeting on the island of Porquerolles (France) from October 14 to 18, 2019!
Representatives from small islands of our network, institutional and financial partners, and field experts from all over the world will gathered during this four-day event for international meetings and technical workshops. This event was co-organised with the French Coastal Management Agency, the National Park of Port-Cros and the French Town of Hyères les Palmiers.
Major events took place during the conference, including:
SMILO General Assembly;
Partners Meeting of ISOS Project Isole Sostenibili, supported by the European programme INTERREG MARITIMO France-Italy, for the final conclusions of the four technical workshops Heritage, Water, Waste and Renewable Energies;
Meeting of SMILO Assessment Committee for the intermediary assessment of 6 islands, candidates to the “Label in Progress”: Tavolara (Italy), Bolama (Guinea-Bissau), Saint-Honorat (France), Sainte-Marguerite (France), Porquerolles (France), and Zlarin (Croatia);
Technical Workshop for the preparation of the White Papers “Energy, Water and Waste Flows Management” and “Heritage”;
“Islands Pop-Up Session”, during which SMILO pilot islands will present their ongoing operations and projects;
Field trip on Porquerolles Island;
Closing dinner and SMILO Award Ceremony, during which all the 6 islands received the Label in Progress, as well as Sectorial Awards:
